(((new frakkers)))

so, how or why did you become an A/R shipper?

I'll start the ball rolling, shall i?

I had never seen MM or EJO before so i didn't know what to expect really. When Laura Roslin came on the screen for the first time, i took an immediate liking to her! I followed her character closely and (although it took me a while, i'm a bit slow) i eventually noticed what was between Adama and Roslin. The relationship is slow, filled with obstacles, and just perfect in my opinion! ...

It’s without a doubt an important two part episode. Nevertheless, I think the first part is the better one, I find myself fast-forwarding through most of the battle scenes in the second part most of the time.

Kat’s tough chick routine in her way of talking really gets on my nerves!

“I’m a friendly, we’re all friendlies so let’s just be friendly” makes me laugh out loud every time.

Cain just became a fan of Kara after her recon mission

Let me just say that Helena Cain is a great character - and very well portrayed by Michelle Forbes – but she sure has a crazy streak.

When the Pegasus raptor arrives on Galactica, Laura’s face is almost split in two by her grin while Bill’s all pokerfaced. Can two people be any more different in such a situation?

I find it rather surprising that both the CO and the XO leave Pegasus at the same time, especially considering that the Pegasus was not looking for Galactica but was following ...

I’m not going to bother with a few introduction lines this time and dive right into my rambling

I find it rather cute that Tyrol talks to the vipers as if they were his patients. But I’d rather not know what’s really going through his mind when he’s remembering Boomer while fingering the viper.

Tyrol has a rather violent tendencies, hasn’t he? Just think about his fist fight with Helo in this episode, how he beats up Cally in LDYB, how he rushes to Sharon’s defence in Pegasus or the bombings ...

This is without a doubt one of the best episodes of the whole show. It gives a great insight into some of the minor characters like Dee or Gaeta and while I’m not too big a fan of either of them – I usually tend to ignore them – I would have liked to see some more of their or for instance Racetrack’s back-story before the sh*t hit the fan in 4.0. And what made the episode even better was the exclusion of Bill and – for the most part – Tigh from D’Anna’s interviews.

Other observations/ramblings:

This episode is rather focused on the happenings on Kobol. While that’s nice enough to watch and might give a few insights into Baltar, Tyrol and Cally, I must admit that I tend to fast-forward these parts.

But as usual I have a few rambling observations to share:

Cottle is Love – with capital L. Imo he doesn’t have nearly enough screen time on the show.

Tigh has only been in charge for a couple of days – or is it hours? – and he’s losing it fast as the scene in CIC shows: “Why aren’t ...

This two-parter is easily one of my favourite episodes of season 2. I just love the moment when Bill walks down the corridor at the end of part 1, then stops, thinks, nods to himself and goes to CIC to get the material on Kobol. It’s a 180° from the beginning of the episode, where he’s beyond pissed at Laura, his son and all those that followed them to Kobol

I admit it: I fast-forward most of this episode. I don’t know why. It’s a good episode but I still can’t bring myself to watch it *shrug*

Okay, on with some questions/observations

How long has Kara known Anders? She sure moves fast, imo.

“He’s a tough old bird” Is it just me or does Laura sound relieved?

“How does this thing work?” Excuse me, you’ve been a teacher and have no idea how to use a tape recorder?

I think this is the first episode where we see Dee fall for Lee, just look at the way she talks to or looks at/after him when she accompanies him on his way to the brig.

Tigh could be a much better commander if he didn’t listen to Ellen so much. That woman’s just bringing him down. I guess love really does make you blind.

Considering how season 1 ended, it’s not surprising that there are no Laura/Bill scenes, hell there are hardly any scenes with any of them at all. So some mad rambling about other characters:

That two-parter was a really mean way of ending season 1 and I’m glad that it was already available on DVD when I started watching BSG. It’s also an episode that has very little A/R moments – as in “scenes together”.

Yay, the rewatch of Season 1 is almost done!!! It’s time for Colonial Day. One of the things that always strikes me as odd about this episode is the distinctive lack of Bill. He makes one phone call to Colonial One in the beginning and then he shows up for the party and that’s it. My suggestion is "Story of my Life" by Neil Diamond. It has this whole book imagery and practically screams A/R s4

Lyics:

The story of my life

Is very plain to read

It starts the day you came

And ends the day you leave

The story of my life

Begins and ends with you

The names are still the same

And the story's still the truth

How can Laura be so calm when her hands are suddenly covered snakes? I would have run off screaming and not managed to more or less finish a press conference.

This is one of my all-time favourite episodes of the show and probably THE favourite of season 1. Be warned, this post is a bit rambling.

The meeting between Laura and Bill in the beginning is really awkward – understandably so – and although they are not that close at this point in the show, they know each other well enough already to know that the other one is holding something back. And he just can’t say no to her, hehe, because although he clearly doesn’t want to he agrees to be the ...

If Bill knows how Leoben works, why does he send Kara over to interrogate him instead of going himself? (Okay, the obvious answer would be “for plot reasons”, but Bill can’t know that, can he?)

Could Boomer shooting Bill have been prevented if Tyrol had taken Sharon’s concerns of being a Cylon seriously?

"Litmus" is a very Tyrol/Sharon focused episode. Nice, but not helpful for an A/R rewatch

On the other hand, I do have some thoughts about some other characters in the episode.

The further the episode progresses, the more obvious it becomes that both for Bill and Lee the search for Kara is a personal and not a military matter. Especially Bill is losing it more and more and grasping at straws when he's giving reasons why they don't abandon the search, e.g. in the discussion with Tigh about Kara's O2 supply. Tigh is the voice of reason in these discussions (), but Bill of course doesn't want ...

Okay, I'm a day and an episode late, but I simply refuse to watch "Bastille Day" if I can help it. That episode may lay the foundation for a lot of things/conflicts to come in future episodes, but I still find it rather boring most of the time.

Obviously, "Act of contrition" is a very Kara-centric episode, so there are hardly and Laura or Bill scenes and no A/R scenes in it.

I like the focus on Kara. Her interaction with Bill both in the present and in the flashbacks ...

I'm so proud of myself: I managed to watch the next episode before the weekend

So, here are some random and rambling observations:

1. This is probably the one episode of season 1 which establishes Laura as the mom of the fleet. If you look at the scene with Billy where she tells him "you don't know anything about women", it sounds like a mother giving her son some advice. And Billy obviously thought so too, just look at his next meeting with Dee.

In the discussion between ...

A/R- the Mini

This should be fun to do. Until January let's devote a week or less to watching an episode and within that time frame of watching we either write up thoughts on A/R, do a picspam, make avatars/sigs, make comments on the progression of Laura's clothing and/or hair (hahaha), etc.

So let's start with the mini. Watch it, review it, make your decision on what to contribute that is A/R and post here by Sunday.

What does everyone think? From there we can do the same with each episode.
