How/Why did you become an A/R Shipper?

so, how or why did you become an A/R shipper?

I'll start the ball rolling, shall i?

I had never seen MM or EJO before so i didn't know what to expect really. When Laura Roslin came on the screen for the first time, i took an immediate liking to her! I followed her character closely and (although it took me a while, i'm a bit slow) i eventually noticed what was between Adama and Roslin. The relationship is slow, filled with obstacles, and just perfect in my opinion! MM and EJO play the characters so well, it's hard NOT to love the ship!

What about you lot?

Definitely the turning point for me was the kiss in Resurrection Ship Part 2. So romantic... I became an instant convert! I had noticed that they had become friends, but I never thought that it went deeper than that until that moment. I actually stopped the DVD and rewinded it check that I was not dreaming. And the look on Adama's face when she walks away... gets me every time!

Well, I had seen MM in Independance day and Dances with wolves so I knew who she was. I had heard of EJO many times but I had not really seen his work. I have always liked SCI-FI stuff so I thought that BSG looked great so I watched it and I was hooked straight away.

Both Roslin and Adama were very striking from the word go. I liked them as separate characters until after Kobol, when I could see a change in Adama's view towards her. It just got better and better after that. Their friendship grew and grew, leading up to that fantastic kiss which did it for me. That was topped only by the 'I love you' scene in 'The Hub'.

I have loved them ever since. MM is very beautiful and has qualities about her that I have not seen in any other actress. EJO is gorgeous and I love him to bits.

The frakking kiss in "ressurection ship2"!! That's how I became an A/R shipper and that's how I actually found out the word "shipper". and then learned its modern equivalent- frakker
I can't beleive why I didn't see it coming, the kiss..... All I know is that when I saw it, I was at cloud nine.... it was something unexplainable... and still is...

I love them both as separate characters, but together...they balance each other out so perfectly.

Going back and rewatching (I am starting from Season 1) it all...I can see it all. There was immediate attraction between them, I swear.

MM is very beautiful and so...I dunno, simple. Just, serene and natural. EJO is a fantastic actor and really quite the good looking man. And gotta love his voice too right?

So the kiss kind of hit us all around the head eh? LOL

I honestly did not see it coming! my first thought honestly was "she's gonna end up in the brig!" (lol and i was right ) but the relationship completely threw me! Even now when i look back at season 1 (aside from their flirty talk and dance in colonial day) i cannot see it lol can anyone tell me any certain moments? or is it just a general tension? When he said its always been between him and Roslin and he went down and they made friends again, i was like "oooo potential friendship" but i firs tnoticed it when ... she was ill, laying on the couch thing on Colonial One and he was leaning over her, guiding the glass of water to her, holding her hand, that soft smile he got on his face, that sad little twinkle in his eyes. Also when he left the room and she said "Bill" and he turned around and you saw him wipe a tear away .... thats when i was like "hmmmm" although it took the kiss to stun me!

When I first started watching Battlestar Galactica, I was a Roslin/Zarek shipper *dodges egg throws* Before watching the series in full I had only seen a couple of episodes of series 3, the finale of 1 and 3, and the mini series. However, I think when rewatching the mini series I could see something was going on, and when I started watching the series I was threatened to be an A/R shipper or else (naming no names *cough* Emily *cough*).

To answer the why: I have to ship. In all my favourite TV shows, I watch for the Science Fiction but carry on watching (at least with an interest) because I end up shipping.

To answer the how...I think it was LDYB that got me. When Laura is giggling into Bill's arm. I completely by passed everything on Kobol or the kiss...though now I look back on it, I don't know how I wasn't a shipper from the dance on Colonial day. Normally that's all it takes for me to start shipping!

For me, it was from their first meeting when they discussed installing networked computers that I thought either they end up killing each other or loving each other, althoug I guess it was more because they looked good together on screen than any real hint. But as the show progressed, it became more obvious, especially with the appearance of Cain (and no, I don't just mean the kiss)

Other than that, I'm with Stargatecrazy, I have to ship - although it's not like I'm looking for a ship, somehow these things tend to find me and jump on me

Oh yes, when Cain arrived it was definitely obvious. As Cain said ; it looked like someone had shot Laura's dog.

Plus, the way she keeps telling him to look out for himself, to kill Cain first. I don't think she was advising the Admiral, i think she was pleading (in a subtle sense really) with Bill.

I had read about the characters previous to me actually watching the show so I was already intrigued and then when I watched the mini, I was like "Dudes, they are going to fall in love." It was way too obvious. Hehe.

Yeah, you know I just watched those episodes again last night and the first time I watched them, I never noticed him wipe the tear away when she called him back. I was like, wow, how did I miss that. Then in RS2, the kiss just does it for me. I love that scene so much, and when Adama is crying after she has left, he is so adorable and you know then it's more than just friendship. I remember watching the next episode when she was dying and thinking OMG she can't die now, I want to see more of them together. Looking back at Home pt2, I could see a change in both of them after the reuinion on Kobol, and it just got closer after that.

It was not obvious to me. Kara/Lee - now that was obvious and I did ship them for a while ... but then when Anders came along it became really complicated and I moved on. I don't ship for shipping's sake ... I do it because I genuinely believe that the characters would be happier together. I always thought that the writers would continue to play the power struggle between the military and government, like they did for most of season one, which is why their growing friendship caught me by surprise.

But see, I was a J/C shipper until the end and that's how they started out on Voyager. Besides, it's usually the people that have tension between them (whether it to be political power, gender, etc.) usually (not always) have a strong relationship.
