A/R Episode 6 "Litmus"

Post  Easterbunnyorc on Sun Oct 12, 2008 12:56 pm

Believe it or not, there are absolutely no A/R, Laura or Bill observations to share from my end *hides in shame*
"Litmus" is a very Tyrol/Sharon focused episode. Nice, but not helpful for an A/R rewatch Razz

On the other hand, I do have some thoughts about some other characters in the episode.

Tigh earned major brownie points for saving Bill's life. (Seriously, Bill, what were you thinking when you lunged for Doral just before the explosion?) When he's sober, Tigh is actually a good officer/soldier and there's no question why he's Bill's XO. cyclops

Tyrol is clearly the father of the hangar deck. He inspires the same loyalty in his crew that Bill does in the rest of the fleet as seen for instance in the scene where Cally's making sure the coast is clear for his forbidden rendez-vous with Sharon in the beginning of the episode. And the scene where he's scolding Cally and two other specialists when they try to make alcohol never fails to make me smile.

Sergeant Hadrian is clearly on a power high when she questions Sharon, Tyrol and especially Bill. But she nevertheless raises a few important questions such as if Bill thinks that some of the recent events could have been prevented if he hadn't kept the fact that cylons look like humans a secret. And obviously these questions hit home with Bill, if his reaction - as much as he shows anyway - is anything to go by.

What surprised me, though, was that we don't see any sort of witch hunt apart from Hadrian's investigation. I would have thought that more incidents were reported where someone accused someone else of being a skinjob.

Oh, and the funniest part of the episode? Bill's sentence "I'm a soft touch."

When Hadrian asks him why he allowed a relationship between Sharon and Tyrol although it was against regulations.

ahhh, that one! Yes, it was good.... When I reached the end of season 3 and already knew he and Laura are something special, I went back and watched the seasons again and this episode made me think about what would happen if The Commander and The President are involved... If the rules are really so severe.... But now, after the hub, I don't see anything like this.....

I think Easter you have covered everything i would have mentioned about this episode *claps*

I have just got to reiterate : GO TIGH!!! loved him that episode, was a good 'un. Like you said, when he's sober he's brilliant *thumbs up*

I kind of feel sorry for Cally in this episode? Because you know, she really likes Tyrol, and to be the one helping him out to hide his relationship .... although admittedly there's not alot in this episode to hint at her liking Tyrol ... so maybe she doesn't that early on? I'm not sure.

The crewman taking the fall for Chief, bless! Hadrian was definitely worse with power as the episode went on. Loved Adama's "soft touch" comment, it was said so blandly i just laughed and laughed! Adama closing the tribunal was good i think, he had a little speech sort of thing there, said with feeling, i liked it.

1. I don't think she had a thing for Tyrol just then, or maybe if she did she didn't really realize it until later.
2. He always has little speeches for difficult situations. Either he has them all prepared in advance or he really took a pep talk class Razz
